Annual multicultural summer festival Briarbrook, Brookside and Morgan's Grant are located off March Road in Kanata, Ontario, Canada. Kanata North Community GardenThere
will be a short meeting for Kanata North residents who are interested in
helping to start a community garden.
Volunteers are required to help find the land and organize the
garden. The purpose of this meeting
will be to form the Kanata North Community Garden Committee. The meeting will be held on June 16th at
7:00 PM. It will be held at the
Beaverbrook Community Centre, 2 Beaverbrook Road. Please RSVP to jgourley@sympatico.ca. Summer Family Fun DayMark
your calendars for the annual summer festival, to be held on Saturday, June
19. Join us at WC Bowes Park (Klondike
Road and Halton Terrace) between 12:00 and 4:00 PM. Food service will begin at 12:30 PM and
continue while quantities last. Burgers,
beef hot dogs and pizza will be provided by M & M Meat Shops and Willy's
Pizza. BMGCA would like to thank these
generous sponsors for their involvement in this year's festival. We invite residents to come out and sample
some of the wares that are available right here in the community. Events
will include a "bouncy castle" for the kids, face painting, apple
bobbing, the famous tug of war between Ottawa firefighters and local children
(the kids hold the championship title), arts & crafts, potato sack races
and more! The
festival will use biodegradable plates, cutlery and serviettes, and will
employ recycling and organic composting services. This will reduce waste by more than 50%, and
is part of the BMGCA Waste Reduction Initiative. Admission
is FREE for members of BMGCA, making this a good opportunity to renew your
membership. If you are not already a
member, not to worry, memberships will be on sale for $10 per year or $15 for
two years, which admits all family members and helps our association continue
to fund the rinks in winter, our graffiti-fighting program, and much
more. Trinity Development Group Presents Cheque to BMGCAMike
Foley of the Trinity Development Group presented a cheque for $6000 to BMGCA
on April 21. The funds will support a greening project along the sidewalk
leading from Morgan's Grant to the new plaza
on March Road. Mr. Foley also described the renovation of the March House,
which will involve a new roof, structural repair to a bowed wall, a new
porch, and an access ramp.
